The Veddas






 

   Sri lanka's  first people the Vedd or Adiwasi  have a captivating story .According to the island fascinating historical chronicle - the Mahavamsa it is  said that they  were the children or dedescendants of 👑 queen Kuveni , a Yaksha amd the wife of 🇱🇰  legendary first King Vijay .However ,according to anthropology ,their  origins are much older with some anthropology dating  them back to the stong age .

 A hunter - gather people the Veddas have a long history of living harmoniously with nature .There are three perdominant  types of Veddas or Coastal Veddas  ,that lived on the coastlineand Gam Veddas or village Vedds that lived off in chena cultivation in small huts in village communities.

Dunhinda Ella

       Dunhinda is considered to be one of the most enchanting falls in Sri lanka and is in close proximity to Badulla town. The water resles a thin cloud  as it cascades 63 m downwards into a large pool. The backdrop to the fall is known as 'Dunhind Adaviya '.' Dunhinda ' translates to ' spraying /  vapour  waterfall ' - the world ' dun ' means ' gave / was given, ' while  ' hinda'  means ' evaporte' .                This fall is steeped in history.The area was once inhabited by indigenous  people - the Veddha tribe.During the time of King Rajasihe ,a giant fren got stuck at the top of the fall , between two mountains .This  acted as a dam, which resulted in the flooding of Badulla town.

  My favorite book is Madoduwa. The anuthor of this book is Martin Vikkramasinha.It is a children novel and adadventure  story .Main characters are Upali & Jinna  . The  book is about called Upali and Jinna one day they ran away from home after facing many challengers  they could  cultivate the small  Island called Madolduwa they because it is very interesting and exciting
